12th of October

El Día de la Raza: Acknowledging our history, good and bad
Commemoration of Hispanic heritage -- Columbus Day, El Día de la Raza, and Hispanic Heritage Month -- is a festive time but also an occasion that has spun dissent among communities debating the merits of this date in history as discovery versus conquest. Some people acknowledge El Día de la Raza (the day of race), rather than Columbus Day, and others observe Hispanic Heritage in a month-long series of activities and events. Initially a week, national celebration of "Hispanic Heritage" became official in 1968.

Día de la Raza or Fiesta de la Raza, is Spanish Américas celebration.
12th of October, the date of the discovery of the Western Hemisphere.
